3. Khagra Mela

4. Hargauri Temple

The temple is in a town called Thakurganj in the Kishanganj district. It’s a pretty cool story how this temple came to be. Back in 1901, a guy named Jioninder Mohan Thakur, who was related to Ravindra Nath Tagore, bought the land and named it Thakurganj. Then, in 1897, his family found a Shivling, which is a black stone statue of Lord Shiva and mother Parvati, while digging in the ruins of the Pandava period. They wanted to take it to Calcutta, but Lord Shiva himself said it should stay where it was found. So, the next day, they had a big ceremony and placed the statue right there. People have a lot of faith in this temple, especially during the month of Sawan, when devotees from Nepal, Bengal, and other states come to visit.
