How to reach Gaumukh?
The pilgrims are taken to Gaumukh after visiting Gangotri Temple. First, you need to trek to Bhojbasa which is about 14 kilometers and takes around 5 to 6 hours’ time. After that, the Gaumukh trek begins and the pilgrims walk through the forest area of Chirbasa into the pines. It is a distance of about 5 kilometers and takes around 2 to 3 hours to reach the Ganga glacier. There are resting places in between where the pilgrims can halt overnight in camps and begin trekking the next day.
Itinerary
Day 01: Haridwar - Barkot (210kms/7-8hr) Height: 1352 MTS.
Morning meet our driver at haridwar & drive for Barkot via Mussoorie, enroute visit Mussoorie Lake & Kempty Fall in Mussoorie. Later drive straight to Barkot. Check into the hotel arrival in Barkot. Overnight stay at Barkot.
Day 02: Barkot - Yamunotri - Barkot {36kms drive & 6kms Trek (one side)} Height: 3235 MTS.
Early morning after breakfast (packed breakfast), drive to Jankichatti / Phoolchatti & star trek from here to Yamunotri (6kms) (Either by walk or by horse or by Doli at own cost). After taking bath in Jamunabai Kund's warm water and having "Darshan" of "Yamunaji" return to Jankichatti by trek. Later drive towards Barkot, Overnight stay at Barkot.
Day 03: Barkot - Uttarkashi - Gangotri (180kms/6hr) Height: 1352 MTS.
Morning after breakfast, drive to Gangotri via Uttarkashi. Check into the hotel arrival in Gangotri. Visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Uttarkashi. Overnight stay at Gangotri.
Day 04: Gangotri - Bhojwasa (13kmsTrek each side) Height: 3792 MTS.
Daybreak after breakfast we commands our trek further to Bhojwassa via Chirbasa (3600mt). From Gangotri we move along the beaten track towards Chirbasa, which is on tree line. The entire trek today is along the roaring Bhagirathi River. Beyond Chirbasa the terrain becomes really desolate and barren. In fact, it has been referred to as Artic Tundra by many trekkers. From Chirbasa we trek further to Bhojwassa, the entire trail passes through dense forest, Arrive Bhojwassa; there is a small temple and a potential campsite near down the river. We make our camp near river side. Afternoon free to travel around the region and to enjoy excellent sunset on Bhagirathi group of peaks. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.
Day 05: Bhojwasa - Gaumukh - Bhojwasa (5kmsTrek Each Side.) Height: 3890 MTS.
Early in the break of day enjoy the panoramic sight of Bhagirathi group of peaks. After breakfast trek to Gaumukh (3890mt), the source of the Ganges. Gaumukh is where the water of Ganga trickles down from the glaciers. The sages called it 'Gaumukh', because in the distant past, it probably appeared like a cow's mouth. Travel around the area and trek back to Bhojbasa. Dinner and overnight stay in Guest House.
Day 06: Bhojwasa - Gangotri - Uttarkashi (13kmsTrek, 100 Kms Drive.)
Morning after breakfast trek down to Gangotri and from here drive to Uttarkashi. On arrival check in to hotel. Overnight stay.
Day 07: Uttarkashi - Guptakashi (13kmsTrek, 100 Kms Drive.) Height: 1319 MTS.
Morning after breakfast, drive to Guptkashi via Moolgarh & Lambgoan. Enroute you can see the beautiful river Mandakini at Tilwara. The Mandakini river comes from Kedarnath, drive alongside the river to reach Guptakashi, visit Ardh Narishwar Temple in Guptakashi. Check into the hotel arrival in Guptakashi. Overnight stay at Guptakashi.
Day 08: Guptkashi - Kedarnath - Guptkashi (30kms by road & 18kms Trek one way) Height: 3384 MTS.
Morning after breakfast drive to Gaurikund, start your trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath (by Pony / Doli / Helicopter at your own cost). Visit Kedarnath Temple. After temple Darshan trek down to Gaurikund. Later, drive to Guptkashi. Overnight stay at Guptakashi.
Day 09: Guptkashi - Kedarnath - Guptkashi (30kms by road & 18kms Trek one way) Height: 3384 MTS.
It is extra day for you (whoever is using helicopter services because weather in kedarnath ji is unpredictable ,so to complete you darshan/Yatra we always advise to keep extra days in your hand )
Day 10: Guptkashi - Joshimath (170kms/7 Hrs.) Height: 3133 MTS.
Morning after breakfast, drive to Joshimath via Chopta Ukhimath. Check in to the hotel arrival in Joshimath. Pilgrims after having Darshan of Narsingh Temple at Joshimath. Overnight Stay at Hotel.
Day 11: Joshimath - Badrinath - Joshimath (160kms/7 Hrs.) Height: 895 MTS.
In the early morning, drive to Badrinath. Pilgrims after having a bath in the Taptkund have the Darshan of Badrivishal & Aarti in evening. Brahamakapal is significant for Pinddan Shraddh of ancestors (Pitrus). There are other interesting sightseeing spot like Mana, Vyas Gufa, Maatamoorti, Charanpaduka, Bhimkund and the "Mukh" of the Saraswati River. Just within the three kms of Badrinathjee. Later back to Joshimath and Overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 12: Joshimath - Haridwar (270kms/8-9hr)
In the Early Morning, check-out from the hotel & transfer to Haridwar Rly Station/Hotel/Airport Via Rudraprayag, Devprayag & Rishikesh. On arrival at Haridwar Drop you at Haridwar Railway Station or Hotel.
