Badrinath and Kedarnath, both are located in remote regions of Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand. These temples are part of the Char Dham Yatra 2020, which is a very sacred Hindu pilgrimage tour. There is an interesting legend associated with the opening of Kedarnath Dham. During the winter months, the Kedarnath temple deity resides at Omkareshwar Temple at Ukhimath in Rudraprayag. When winter season starts to end, and summer season begins, a Bhairavnath puja is held at Omkareshwar Temple on April 27th. After the puja is concluded, the doli of Kedarnath Temple is carried in a procession and in the morning of April 29, it finally reaches Kedarnath Temple. It is only after the Kedarnath deity has reached the temple, the kapaat gates are opened for devotees throughout the summer season till the early week of November.
