Places to Visit Near Kailash Mansarovar

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is one of the most prestigious and epic pilgrimages for Hindus. Pilgrims have been doing this yatra for many centuries. Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is not just a pilgrimage route, but an adventure in itself. The high Tibetan plateau region is full of snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas. There are emerald-blue lakes and frozen glaciers, which are the source of major rivers that flow through India, Nepal, and China. Kailash Mansarovar Yatra reaches Mount Kailash and the parikrama of Mount Kailash is such that it purifies anyone from all the sins that they have committed.

The entire Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route goes through several places. Almost all the places are situated in the Tibetan region of China, and Nepal. There are some places which you can visit in India also. You can do Mount Kailash kora or Nandi kora and visit Tibetan monasteries on the way. These monasteries are centuries old and are worth visiting for their ancient Buddhist culture. You can also visit the ancient caves where Buddhist monks meditate.

Places to visit near Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

But out of all the places, the most interesting ones are Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. The shimmering blue Mansarovar Lake is at the base of Mount Kailash. It is the most transparent of lakes in the entire Tibetan region and you can see through the water into the lake. Mount Kailash is the holiest of mountains and has not been climbed yet. You will also be able to have a look at Om Parvat and the holy ‘Aum’ sign that is made by snow on the mountain.

On the Nepal side, you can visit the famous Muktinath Temple and Pashupatinath Temple. Like most other tourists, you too, can visit Tirthapuri hot springs and visit the monastery there. Embark on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and visit all other famous places in India, Nepal, and Tibet.
