Yamunotri dham is located in the Uttarkashi district, at a height of 3,293 meters, on the western side of the Garhwal Himalayas. By Train: Go by train either to the Dehradun Railway Station or to the Rishikesh Railway Station. Hire a taxi, ride a bus, or book a cab from the railway station to reach Phool Chatti. You may also get shared jeeps or similar vehicles. From there, do a trek from Janki Chatti to Yamunotri which is about 5 kilometers.
By Road: It is considered as the best route to reach Yamunotri as it is well-connected to the roads of yamunotri, till Phool Chatti, via Dehradun and Barkot. However, if you plan to come by the Haridwar-Rishikesh route, then you will have to follow the Dharasu bifurcation point.
The yamunotri trek route is compulsory and thus, cannot be switched with any other route. The trekking begins from Janki Chatti which takes around 6 kilometers to reach Yamunotri, that is, around two to three hours time. The trekking path is quite steep which make it difficult to walk, in the presence of beautiful lakes and streams, ample flora and fauna, snowy regions and dense forests. There are several facilities and amenities provide to the pilgrims with water supply, seatings, and resting spots. Small tea and coffee stalls for refreshments are also present at regular intervals for the comfort of the tourists.

Finding proper accommodation is never an issue when you are in Yamunotri. There are ample lodging options available near Janki Chatti and Hanuman Chatti which is only 5 kilometers to 6 kilometers away from the Yamunotri Temple and takes almost two to three hours to reach there.
There are many restaurants and cafes which serve breakfasts, lunches, and, dinners through the Yamunotri travel route. You may also find several refreshment stalls of tea and coffee in the trekking route from Janku Chatti to Yamunotri.
